Bottle House Day 2
Time to go to the bottle house again!
I was really looking forward to today because I was ready to participate in the cement-making process of the bottle house. It took a lot of energy, but it sure was a fun process.
First, we carried buckets of sand and dumped them into the pile. Then the big bag of cement mix was added, along with water. There was a specific way to mix in the ingredients with a shovel. I honestly had struggled with this process because it was difficult to keep the water from spilling out and being wasted. Although, I will say I was good at carrying the buckets, not so much with the shovel though.
After creating the mixture, we practically smashed the cement into the chicken wire covering each section of the stacked bottles. This was a messy, but exhilarating process for me because it didn’t take too much precision. It kind of just felt like I was playing in mud, and packing into the chicken coop. Boni showed me how to properly take a chunk and throw it into the wire, after a few tries I got it!
This day was my favorite because I brushed up on my high school Spanish class speaking skills and was learning from the 7 Elements staff! It was kind of them to be patient with me, as I was using my broken Spanish to try to learn their culture and connect with them. I’m not sure what the other guy was saying, but I heard “Strong,” when I was carrying the buckets!
